Q: How do you find music for your programs?
I get a lot from blogs (esp Aquarium Drunkard, Stereogum, Pitchfork) but i have made a lot of label friends over the years. I am a DJ first and foremost and have been collecting records my whole life so i am an obsessive, constantly trading music with DJs and music heads and i’m way into Shazam.
Q: What’s your all-time favorite track that you think works in just about every retail program?
Oh man, I dunno. it’s always different with me. Anything by Nina Simone, I’m a sucker for weird covers. One track that stays on heavy rotation around here is “Dance Yrself Clean” by LCD Soundsystem.
Q: When you’re not programming music for stores, what are your interests and hobbies?
I own 4 companies, have a pretty ambitious DJ schedule which takes me all over the world, and have 2 little girls. (Hobbies? Hahahaha nope).
