The Stats:
Name
: Dean Cherny / Marketing Melodies & storePlay / Melbourne, Australia
Programs: Over 2,500 retail stores, cafes & restaurants including sass & bide, Kookai, Camilla & Jeanswest

Q: How do you find music for your programs?
We have direct label deals with all the majors and about 30 independent labels, so we are always receiving music from them. I also subscribe to various websites/blogs including Music NinjaPretty Much AmazingLast Gas Station & Summer Triangle.

Q: What’s your all-time favorite track that you think works in just about every retail program?
I love funk, soul & Motown & my all-time favourite track would have to be Somebody Else’s Guy by Jocelyn Brown & I am always trying to sneak a few of these classics on my programs targeting more mature customers. As far as current music goes, I’m a massive fan of Indie Dance, Nu Disco & Tropical House, so they are always being added to my playlists.

Q: When you’re not programming music for stores, what are your interests and hobbies?
Marketing Melodies also works on other retail technologies including digital signage & beacons. And outside of running Marketing Melodies I DJ at clubs, festivals & corporate events as well as running a team of DJ’s that does much the same.

Q: What Shoplifter release are you currently loving?
I’m currently loving Tennis, Dresses, Django Django & Hanni El Khatib and he used these on the programs of my more fashion forward clients.
